Riodine Povidone Iodine Surgical Scrub 10% Pump Pack 500ml

Povidone-Iodine 10%w/v (equivalent to 1%w/v available Iodine) Actions Povidone-Iodine is an iodophore in which Iodine is bound to the carrier molecule, Povidone. The complex, Povidone-Iodine, slowly liberates inorganic Iodine when in contact with the skin and mucous membranes. Only a small amount of Iodine is released at any one time, giving Povidone-Iodine a lower irritant potential, and longer duration of microbiocidal action than conventional Iodine solutions. Povidone-Iodine is considered to have the same antimicrobial spectrum of Iodine. It has broad-spectrum activity; including bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa and spores. Indications For preoperative and post operative scrubbing of skin by hospital operating personnel: for preoperative use on patients as an antiseptic cleanser or for general use as an antiseptic skin cleanser in the surgery.

Directions for Use
1. Use undiluted.
2. Wet hands and arms with warm water.
3. Use approximately 5mLon hands, wash for 2 minutes.
4. Use nailbrush for nails only.
5. Repeat wash before surgery.
6. Rinse well then dry carefully.

Contraindications Known hypersensitivity to povidone-iodine or iodines. Precautions For external use only. Do not use near mucous membranes or open wounds. Prolonged exposure to wet solution may cause irritation or rarely, severe skin reaction. If skin irritation or rash occurs, discontinue use immediately. Use in Pregnancy Iodine applied to intact skin is minimally absorbed (unless applied to a large enough surface area) however the benefits must be weighed against the risks. Possible effects of iodine absorption may include alteration of thyroid function of both mother and foetus.
